This course aims to enhance Fire Prevention, Preventive Maintenance and Rescue Training in accordance with the current regulatory requirements. It trains participants how to raise the alarm, what to do if the alarm is sounded, how to tackle and anticipate fire, rescue activity, use of supporting equipment, and the importance of preventive maintenance of the system.

Scope

The program scope is to provide a general understanding on fire safety, the relevant laws & regulations, basic fire hazards & risk administration plus fire prevention and anticipation during an emergency.

  2. Theory and Terminology of Fire.
  3. Chemistry of fire.
  4. Classifications of fire.
  5. Recognising fire hazards and prevention measures.
  6. Types of extinguishers and operating methods plus other fixed fire fighting installations.
  7. Domestic awareness.
  8. Practical use of fire extinguishers, hose reels and fire hoses by course participants.
  9. Emergency Response Procedures (Introduction to Evacuation & drills).
  10. Basic Firefighting Techniques (Theory & Practical).

Objectives

Successful completion of this program will enhance the skills of participants and enable them to:

  • Understand the legal requirements in relation to fire safety issues.
  • Understand basic fire science including fire triangle, classification of fires, spreading of fire and methods of extinguishing.
  • Demonstrate the safe and effective use of portable firefighting equipment on a variety of controlled fire scenarios.
  • Check, maintenance and use of breathing apparatus.
  • Understand the fire prevention measures available within their workplace, develop ability to extinguish fires with fire equipment and gain confidence and awareness.
  • Enhance the awareness and ability to identify and assess the presence of fire hazards and risk, and take necessary response to safeguard people and property.
  • Ability to rectify problems associated with fire prevention systems.

The program consists of classroom lectures, practical demonstration and video presentation.
